Eyelid & Aesthetics

All eyelid disorders and eyelid operations have functional and! aesthetic implications for patients.

That is why many eyelid patients are looking specifically for experienced eyelid specialists.

In Germany, legislation prohibits the publication on the Internet of “before-and-after” operation photos of patients. We are happy to support this decision because a false impression of the general results is often suggested by presenting only the best results of the aesthetic surgery. Here we present illustrations that compare gazes with the corresponding curve of the eyelid in the case of eyelid bags. We can of course show you photos from our documentation pool during our consultation hours.

There is no single eyelid form that is equally ideal for all people.

Eyelids exhibit individual characteristics depending on age, sex, race, environmental influences, etc. These individual differences also need to be considered in aesthetic eyelid surgery.

An operation on eyelid bags for Europeans is different from one for Asians due to the different configuration of the lid groove and fat distribution in the lid and orbita area.

Over time general conditions of the skin or the hormonal system can cause unwanted changes to our eyelids, for example through constant swelling and thickening or atony of the eyelid skin. Where the changes are the result of a medical condition, other potential changes may be also incorporated into the surgical concept. The patient’s expectations are also important here and should be openly discussed with the surgeon.

Eyelid operations for primarily aesthetic purposes are naturally also surgical procedures that need to be approached with the same degree of consideration and medical earnestness as any other procedures.

A general, international trivialization of such procedures sadly still results in an increasing number of patients with serious complications.

We can also treat patients with complications after cosmetic surgery performed elsewhere.

As a consequence of all the issues listed above, we reserve the right to perform aesthetically oriented operations only under optimum surgical conditions and where we ourselves are also convinced of a functional or aesthetic value for the patient.
