Blepharochalasis
Skin of the upper eyelid which is manifestly hanging and thickened.

The blepharochalasis also occurs with familial cumulation.
Aetiologically it is caused by fluctuating and increased fluid inclusions around the eye region. Because of
this, there is a bulking and disaggregation of tissue structures in the course of the years. The skin of the
upper eyelid is thickened and the natural furrow of the eyelid is reversed. Since the skin of the upper
eyelid overlaps the edge of the lid, the eyelashes are steepened.
Typical symptoms are: aesthetical problems, feelings of heaviness around the eye region, restrictions of the
field of view and eczemas in this region.
Further a distinctive blepharochalasis can lead to unexplained headache.
A blepharoplastic surgery of the upper eyelid is an adequate therapeutic option.
