Distinctive sagging of the tissue of the lower eyelid.

A massive extension of the lower eyelids by fluid inclusions comes to the fore. Sometimes there is further a prolapse of adipose tissue from lower parts of the orbit.

The main reasons are individual attributes of the skin and a disorder of lymphoid discharge.

The increased weight of the tissue causes traction on the edges of the lower eyelids which are pulled down- or sideward. Eczemas can develop. In this case, the upper eyelids of these patients are mostly thickened by oedema, too.

A blepharoplastic surgery of the lower- and/or upper eyelid is an adequate therapeutic option.
